The Philippine Overseas Employment Administration (POEA) has announced the search for outstanding and exemplary Overseas Filipino Workers to be recognized during the 2011 Bagong Bayani Awards, under the auspices of the Bagong Bayani Foundation, Inc. (BBFI), which will be held in December 2011 at the Malacañan Palace, to be graced no less that by the President.
The BBFI is a non-stock, non-profit organization organized in 1989 to promote recognition and appreciation of the role of Filipino Overseas Workers in the Philipine society and economy, to foster high standards of responsibility, efficiency and integrity among them, to promote the welfare of our OFWs. The POEA and the Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA) are the members of the Foundation together with private sector representatives from both the landbased and seabased sector and both the OWWA and POEA Administrators sit as members of the Board of Trustees.
The Bagong Bayani Awards(BBA) is a major program of BBFI to pay tribute to the country's outstanding OFWs for their significant efforts in fostering goodwill among peoples of the world, enhancing the image of the Filipino as a competent and responsible worker and contributing to the nation's foreign exchange earnings. The first Awards was held in 1984 and is now being held every two (2) years.
The nomination form, who may nominate, category of awards and the criteria for the different award categories may be downloaded from the POEA website (www.poea.gov.ph). The nomination, with supporting documents may be submitted to:

The period for submission of nominations has been extended until 31 July 2011.
