|Presentation of Credentials to King Albert II|
Brussels, 7 December 2011 - Ambassador Bataclan today conveyed the best wishes of President Benigno S. Aquino III to His Majesty King Albert II during her presentation of credentials at the King's private residence in Chateau de Laeken in Brussels.
The Belgian monarch said he looked forward to strenghthening relations with the Philippines by enhancing the level of cooperation in various fields to contribute positively to the country's overall development.
Ambassador Bataclan assured King Albert II of the Filipino nation's commitment to further advance its relations with Belgium, and updated him on the political and economic situation in the Philippines including the ongoing Mindanao peace process. They also discussed future prospects of bilateral cooperation between the two countries including possibility for Belgium to hire Filipino nurses and medical professionals.
The Belgian King expressed interest on how Belgium can help the Philippines in its development and humanitarian efforts. "The Philippines and Belgium share many common interests and enjoy a very solid foundation in their bilateral relations. Our cooperation offer many opportunities to assist each other in achieving progress and development", remarked Ambassador Bataclan.
The Philippine Ambassador and King Albert II assured each other of their respective countries' commitment in advancing cooperation and strengthening relations towards achieving peace, stability and development for their countries and peoples.
