EUROPEAN SPRING ACADEMY STUDENTS VISIT THE PHILIPPINE EMBASSY

BRUSSELS, 19 MAY 2014 - FORTY (40) UNIVERSITY STUDENTS FROM THE SINGAPORE MANAGEMENT UNIVERSITY (SMU) AND THE UNIVERSITY OF KOBLENZ-LANDAU IN GERMANY VISITED THE PHILIPPINE EMBASSY ON 13 MAY 2014 IN CONNECTION WITH THEIR ATTENDANCE TO THE EUROPEAN SPRING ACADEMY FROM 4 TO 14 MAY 2014.

TAKING INTO ACCOUNT THE EVENT'S TOPIC, "REGIONAL INTEGRATION IN THE 21ST CENTURY:  EU AND ASEAN IN COMPARISON", AMBASSADOR VICTORIA BATACLAN, PHILIPPINE AMBASSADOR TO BELGIUM AND LUXEMBOURG AND HEAD OF THE PHILIPPINE MISSION TO THE EUROPEAN UNION WELCOMED THE STUDENTS AND BRIEFED THEM ON PHILIPPINE INVOLVEMENT AT THE ASSOCIATION OF SOUTHEAST ASIAN NATIONS (ASEAN) AND ON ASEAN  RELATIONS  WITH THE EUROPEAN UNION (EU).

AFTER THE AMBASSADOR'S PRESENTATION, THE STUDENTS RAISED QUESTIONS CONCERNING THE ASEAN REGIONAL INTEGRATION IN 2015, THE FREE TRADE, HUMAN RIGHTS, THE PEACE PROCESS, THE ASEAN CONNECTIVITY AND ASEAN-EU RELATIONS.

DR. ELISABETH SCHMITT AND PROFESSOR CLARA PORTELA, PERSONS-IN-CHARGE OF THE DELEGATION INFORMED THE EMBASSY THAT THE TRIP TO BELGIUM INCLUDED VISITS TO THE DIFFERENT EUROPEAN INSTITUTIONS FEATURING OPPORTUNITIES FOR  DISCUSSIONS WITH EU EXPERTS ON VARIOUS TOPICS.  BEFORE VISITING THE PHILIPPINE EMBASSY, THE GROUP ALSO CALLED ON THE AMBASSADORS OF MALAYSIA AND VIETNAM.

THE EUROPEAN SPRING ACADEMY IS A JOINT VENTURE OF THE EUROPEAN ACADEMY OF OTZENHAUSEN, A GERMAN NON-PROFIT ORGANIZATION FOR CIVIC EDUCATION, AND THE ASKO EUROPE FOUNDATION.  THIS IS THE THIRD TIME THAT THIS PROGRAM IS BEING HELD.

GUIDELINES ON THE AVAILMENT OF AWARDS AND INCENTIVES FOR OVERSEAS FILIPINO CENTENARIANS UNDER R.A. 10868 AND ITS IMPLEMENTING RULES AND REGULATIONS

 

PUBLIC ADVISORY ON DELAYS IN RELEASE OF PASSPORTS

The Department of Foreign Affairs requests the public's kind understanding on the ongoing delays in the release of passports. These delays are due to technical issues on the part of the company printing the passports.

Those with immediate travel plans are advised to wait until their passports are released before confirming their flights.

Please  be  assured  that  the  Department  is  exerting  all  efforts  to  ensure  the resumption of normal services as soon as possible.
